Wij hebben in november 2019, toen alles nog gewoon was, drie weken last gehad van griep, pas eind november was onze praktijk aan de beurt voor de vaccinatie. Daarna heb ik nog de hele maand december last gehad van verkoudheid. Nadat er officiële regels waren vanwege de corona, zijn we nergens meer naar toe geweest, wat niet strikt noodzakelijk was. Supermarkt en doktersafspraken.

Overigens weet ik niet wie die man is, maar hij had even verder op het forum kunnen kijken en iets vertalen, en dan was hij er wel achter gekomen, dat wereldpolitiek voor ons een bijzaak is. Voor ons is relevant hoe we aan garens en andere handwerkmaterialen uit Engeland komen.

Volgens mij hadden ze in de UK ook boter op hun hoofd, vorig jaar nog grote voetbalwedstrijden tegen tegenstanders uit Spanje en Italië
mét publiek en mét de uitbraak erbij. Grote festivals ook nog. Ze hadden alleen meer vaccins.
En hier is het een rommeltje bij de ent strategie.
Maar ook in Nederland is er bijna geen griep, dat komt omdat er VEEL minder gereisd wordt - zo slepen we al die kiemen niet overal naartoe.

De oudste Britten zijn gevaccineerd. Nu komen steeds jongere mensen aan de beurt. De ziekenhuizen zijn niet meer overvol. Leuke bijkomstigheid van de corona maatregelen is, dat ook influenza bijna niet meer voorkomt. Eerdere jaren konden ze het grote aantal ernstige influenza patiënten ook niet aan in de ziekenhuizen. Dat probleem is opgelost.

Nederland had overigens het zelfde kunnen doen. Elk land in de EU is vrij om zelf te kiezen voor vaccinatie. De Britse regering begon ook met ontkennen dat er een ernstige nieuwe ziekte was, net zoals de meeste landen. Maar zij hadden net iets sneller door wat er aan de hand was.
